EACH YEAR, MORE THAN 1,000 PEOPLE REACH OUT TO THE BATTERED WOMEN'S SHELTER IN MEDINA COUNTY LOOKING FOR A CHANCE AT A NEW LIFE.
A life without fear. Without anxiety. Without the physical and emotional pain that is inflicted on them daily. Year in and year out, the shelter has been there for them. A warm room welcoming them with much-needed counseling. With the kindness and compassion that has been missing from their lives for so long.
On average the shelter has provided more than 5,000 shelter nights for women, men, children, and seniors in crisis. For most of these people, who continued to live in distress due to financial reasons, family concerns or because they just thought things would change, the shelter was the only place left to turn.
Unfortunately, the problem of domestic violence is only growing. More people are seeking emergency services than ever before. More families are turning to the shelter looking to rebuild their lives.
A TRANSFORMATION. A COMMUNITY EFFORT.
The Battered Women’s Shelter is increasing its impact in Medina County. New Office space has been acquired to better serve victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Additional staff have been deployed to provide vital counseling services. Plans have been evaluated to renovate the shelter to increase residential capacity and provide a more respectable and effective environment.
Along the way, Medina community support has grown. To date $1,050,000 of the $1,800,000 needed, has been raised to renovate the entire shelter. Only $750,000 is needed to complete the renovation of the Medina County Battered Women’s Shelter. With your support, there will be a state of the art shelter for victims of domestic and sexual violence by the end of 2023.
SPONSOR A ROOM.
For $5,000 - $7,500, you can fund the renovation of an entire residential room. We invite you to name the room. Whether you want the room to recognize your family, your business or a particular group you are associated with, it will be a lasting testament to your generosity and goodwill. Other naming opportunities are available.
Your involvement doesn’t end there. You will be updated on the families who stay in your room. You will receive their stories as they begin their journey toward hope and healing, a life free from abuse.
