2 hours – Sextortion: The Hidden Trauma Impacting Youth -

Sextortion is the act of threatening to publicize explicit sexual imagery and is affecting children, teens, and adults at an alarming rate. This traumatic victimization significantly impacts on the mental health of survivors ranging from depression, PTSD, and suicide. In addition to mental health impacts, sextortion can be a gateway to sex trafficking and increase risk factors for other types of victimization. This training will provide an overview of how sextortion and online exploitation occur. The mental health impacts of sextortion and clinical treatment strategies will also be presented. Finally, information will be provided on how to identify warnings signs of online exploitation and prevention techniques.

2 hours – Working with Dissociation in Survivors of IPV and Sexual Violence

Dissociation commonly occurs in individuals who have experienced trauma and specifically with survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual violence. This training will provide foundational knowledge on the spectrum of dissociation and how it may present in survivors to increase clinician competency in the identification and treatment of dissociation.

2 hours – Understanding the Sexual Abuse to Prison Pipeline

The sexual abuse to prison pipeline describes the pathway of gender-based violence that leads girls into the juvenile justice system as a direct result of their traumatic victimization. Young girls in the juvenile justice system experience sexual abuse at significantly higher rates. These rates of victimization are even more disproportionate for young girls of color in the system. This training will provide an overview of the sexual abuse to prison pipeline and how it occurs. Participants will also learn about the impacts of trauma, PTSD, and sexual violence to equip service providers with strategies on how to better identify and responds to youth survivors of sexual abuse from a trauma-informed lens to interrupt the cycle of criminalization of youth survivors.

October 23rd 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM | 2 CEs available for OH Counselors and Social Workers

2 hours – Survivor Grief: Exploring the Intersections between Grief and Traumatic Victimization

Survivors of traumatic victimization such as intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking experience unique complexities in the aftermath of trauma. This training will explore grief processes that intersect with traumatic victimization and trauma recovery. Strategies for incorporating grief working into trauma-related treatment goals will be presented to enhance clinician competency in the treatment of trauma.

November 20th 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM | 3 CEs in Ethics for OH Counselors and Social Workers

3 hours – Ethics & Trauma Informed Care

Ethics and trauma-informed care are inseparable when it comes to providing care to survivors of trauma. This training will explore application of foundational ethical principles through a trauma-informed lens as it relates to confidentiality, cultural humility ethical behavior, and the unique ethical considerations when working with survivors of trauma.
